Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow “will not attack any NATO country.” He assured that the Kremlin is even ready to “enshrine this in future security guarantees.” His words are quoted by Russian media.

According to Lavrov, the West is supposedly preparing for a new major European war. He also complained that “NATO continues to expand almost every minute, contrary to all commitments.”

In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister stated that NATO “poses a threat from everywhere, including the Asia-Pacific region.” He emphasized that the Kremlin hopes that US President Donald Trump “really wants peace in Ukraine and will be faithful to the approaches of the Alaska summit.”

Lavrov also said that NATO leaders are allegedly persuading the US to abandon the idea of resolving the war in Ukraine. According to him, Europe does not want an end to the war, unlike Washington.

Lavrov’s cynical statement about the Budapest Memorandum

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was allegedly not violating the Budapest Memorandum . According to him, Moscow allegedly pledged not to use nuclear weapons against former Soviet republics that had renounced nuclear weapons, but nothing more.

Lavrov said that Ukraine itself had allegedly violated OSCE principles on minority rights, democracy and freedom of speech. He stressed that Moscow did not consider the invasion of Ukraine a violation of agreements.
