On Monday, July 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Commander of the Joint Forces Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty, Commander of the 3rd Army Corps Andriy Biletsky, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Volodymyr Horbatyuk, and Commander of the Charter Corps Igor Obolensky (“Cornet”). The head of state also met separately with the Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Apostol and the Commander of the Azov Brigade Denys Prokopenko. The main topic of discussion was the effective use of the experience of all components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to enhance interaction and perform combat missions.
The meeting took place amid active discussions about possible personnel changes in the military leadership, the president announced on his Telegram channel.
Thus, during the conversation with General Drapaty, we managed to discuss important issues for the country. Zelensky noted that in conditions of a full-scale war, it is extremely important to ensure coordinated interaction between all components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“Grateful for today’s conversation – we managed to discuss many things with Mykhailo Drapaty. It is important that the experience of all components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine is applied in a coordinated manner. Glory to Ukraine!”, the head of state wrote.
Zelensky held a separate meeting with the commander of the 3rd Army Corps, Andriy Biletsky. The president heard a detailed report on the situation on one of the front lines, and also discussed with the military the general vision of Ukraine’s prospects on the battlefield and the further strategy of actions.
In addition, the head of state met with Volodymyr Horbatiuk. The parties discussed strategically important issues of Ukraine’s defense.
“We are discussing Ukraine’s defense strategy and details of interaction with our partners. We are accelerating the implementation of supply agreements. A meaningful meeting with Volodymyr Horbatiuk. Glory to Ukraine,” the president said.
After meeting with the commander of the Charter Corps, Volodymyr Zelensky said that supporting combat brigades, developing technologies, and strengthening our defenders remain among the top priorities.
“I thanked Igor Obolensky for the development of the Charter and discussed key issues that require additional solutions. Of course, the technological capabilities of our Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine, the widest possible use of drones of all types is a key priority. Glory to Ukraine!”, the president writes.
At the same time, journalist Vitaliy Glagola reported on his Telegram channel, citing his own sources in the Office of the President and the Ministry of Defense, that the official dismissal of Oleksandr Syrsky from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may be announced today. The dismissal of Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov is also planned.
“Most likely, Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov will also be dismissed along with Syrsky,” the journalist writes.
The President of Ukraine heard a report by the Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Apostol, on the situation at the front and further priorities.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces provide the necessary results for Ukraine. I am also grateful for the vision of the broader development of the situation on the front and the assessment of key threats. Glory to Ukraine!”, the president said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on a meaningful conversation with the commander of the Azov brigade, Denys Prokopenko.
“Thank you for your consistently well-prepared work and attention to detail. It is important that all adjustments to our strategy for the defense of Ukraine are clearly calculated and verified. We are also working to ensure that the next prisoner exchanges take place. We remember our people. Glory to Ukraine!”, the president writes.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held consultations with Ukrainian commanders on the situation at the front and the further strategy of the war. The very next day, key talks will take place that should help Ukraine achieve its goals and bring the end of the war closer on terms acceptable to the state.
