Some Western politicians are seeking to provoke a war between NATO and Russia after the failure of the strategy aimed at defeating Moscow in the war against Ukraine.

This statement was made by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Reuters reports . He emphasized that Europe is closer than ever to the start of a large-scale war, which has grown out of the conflict in Ukraine.

“We are facing mortal danger” as the West “adds fuel to the fire” by supporting Ukraine. He believes that Europe’s efforts to support the Ukrainian people have been in vain.

“The failure of the strategy to destroy Russia through the war in Ukraine has led some Western politicians to the idea: if the goal cannot be achieved by the forces of the Ukrainian army and with its comprehensive support, then everything possible must be done to provoke a conflict between NATO and Russia,” the Slovak Prime Minister expressed his opinion.

He noted that the war in Ukraine is not a war for Slovakia or NATO, and added:

“Certain ‘war hawks’ within NATO are trying at all costs to turn this war into a conflict between Russia and the alliance.”

He stated that it is easy to create a pretext to start a war, and emphasized that Slovakia will not send its soldiers to fight based on a fabricated pretext.Advertising

Recall that Fico, who has long been the head of the Slovak government, maintains warm relations with Russia and refuses to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

Possible war between Russia and NATO

On September 18, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Russia was stepping up its campaign of hybrid attacks against Europe. He cited the drone attack on Leipzig airport in August as an example. Germany has blamed Russia for the incident.

A day earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that, according to intelligence services, Russia is planning to launch hybrid strikes using drones and missiles against European countries that support Ukraine.
