Attacks on the oil refinery in Kapotnya

The Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district of southeastern Moscow is one of the largest oil refineries in the capital region, owned by Gazprom Neft. In June 2026, the refinery was attacked twice by drones – on June 16 and 18.

Following the June 16 attack, the primary processing unit, which accounted for approximately 53% of the plant’s capacity, was damaged, causing the plant to partially suspend operations.

On June 18, several fires erupted at the refinery. According to satellite data, the aftermath of the strikes led to a significant reduction in the activity of the main processing units.
