According to sources, the White House and the Kremlin have suggested that after the war ends, a joint venture between American and Russian oil companies could be resumed off the coast of Sakhalin.

They also discussed the possibility of involving large American companies in a plan to resume sales of Russian oil to Europe via the Druzhba oil pipeline.

According to them, special envoy Steve Witkoff discussed potential business deals with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting in St. Petersburg in early September.

“President Trump’s representatives discussed economic proposals with both sides of the conflict, including a post-war economic program aimed at creating long-term opportunities for growth and investment in Ukraine, as well as potential opportunities for post-war economic cooperation with Russia. The economic agreements will be included in and governed by a comprehensive peace treaty that will end the killing in this brutal war; a final decision has not yet been made,” the US official said.
