Ukrainian Armed Forces drones have reached the Arkhangelsk region, located approximately 1,900 km from the Ukrainian border, for the first time. According to the Telegram monitoring channel Supernova+, preliminary reports indicate that the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia’s only operational military spaceport, was attacked. It has repeatedly tested the latest Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile. Furthermore, in 2026, the Soyuz-2 and Angara rockets carrying military satellites and the Rassvet orbital constellation, which the Russian Ministry of Defense is considering as an alternative to Starlink, were successfully launched from there several times.
This morning, a drone alert was issued in the Arkhangelsk Region. Governor Alexander Tsybulsky urged residents to seek shelter and warned of mobile internet outages. He did not provide any information on the consequences of the attack. Drones were first spotted over Pinega the previous day. District Governor Lyudmila Kolik stated that the attack targeted “strategic facilities.” A total of 40 drones were destroyed over the region. No injuries were reported. Authorities had previously issued warnings about the drone threat on August 12 and 1.
Recently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have intensified attacks on Russian space infrastructure. On August 15, the Progress Rocket and Space Center in the Samara region, the only facility that serially assembles Soyuz-2 launch vehicles, was attacked. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the Progress Rocket and Space Center also manufactures spacecraft used by the Russian military for reconnaissance. Satellite images show the destruction of Workshop 106A, where Soyuz rockets are manufactured under high-cleanliness conditions, which require special conditions including pressure control, microclimate control, and sterility. Restoring the workshop could take several months.
Russia plans to deploy the Rassvet constellation of 292 satellites by 2027. This will require up to 15 Soyuz launches in addition to the two that took place in March and July.

So, might Musk allow Ukraine to use Starlink for targeting inside ruSSia, if Ukraine is using it to take out Starlink’s competition?
That’s possible but Musk might still have his father’s view of ruSSia. When Musk says he’s worried about “escalation” it seems to be a cop out. He seems to be of the mind that arming Ukraine will extend putin’s war and he appears to believe victory is inevitable for the larger country. Its the same conclusion some people make after they study something, they consider themselves expert and they haven’t even challenged their conclusions yet.
