On the night of September 2, Turkish airlines canceled at least several flights to and from Moscow, according to Russian news outlets .

At Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport, the so-called “carpet” (emergency airspace closure regime) was introduced at night, but even before the restrictions were introduced, Turkish Pegasus Airlines resumed its flights PC-1576 and PC-1521, which were departing from Antalya and Izmir.

The first one was already over the territory of Lithuania at that time, the second one over the territory of Hungary. As reported, both airliners returned to their points of departure. The plane, which was in the airspace of Lithuania, made a sharp U-turn over Kaunas. At 01:35 Moscow time, the plane landed at Antalya International Airport.

Flight PC-386, which was scheduled to depart from Istanbul at 22:45 Moscow time, began preparing for takeoff, but remained at the airport, according to the Flightradar24 service. Flights PC-1456 from Bodrum, PC-390 from Istanbul, and PC-1458 from Dalaman did not depart. Since the planes from Turkey never arrived in Moscow, Pegasus Airlines was unable to operate return flights.

Thus, passengers who purchased tickets for flights to Antalya, Istanbul, Izmir, Bodrum and Dalaman were unable to fly from Moscow to Turkish cities. Tourists were informed that their flights had been postponed to other dates, but it is not yet known which ones.

“Information about the alternative flight will appear in an additional newsletter. Rebooking for other flights is not currently planned. Provision of services in accordance with FAP (Federal Aviation Rules, – UNIAN) is not provided,” the messages state.

Turkish Airlines also canceled two flights from Istanbul to Moscow – TK-419 and TK-407. Accordingly, flights TK-420 and TK-408 did not depart in the return direction.
