According to the publication, representatives of Ukraine and Russia will also take part in the negotiations.

Senior US administration officials are heading to Saudi Arabia to begin peace talks with representatives of Ukraine and Russia, Politico reported, citing a Republican lawmaker and two US officials.

It is noted that the US will be represented by National Security Advisor Mike Walz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative Steve Witkoff.

At the same time, the presence of Special Representative Keith Kellogg is not planned.

It is also reported that representatives of other European states are not expected to participate in the negotiations.

The publication notes that the meeting could be “an important moment in Trump’s push for a peace process,” as well as “the first major meeting between Russian and Ukrainian officials since the war began in 2022.”

Among those who confirmed to Politico the plans of Volz, Witkoff, and Rubio to hold talks in Saudi Arabia was Texas Republican Representative Mike McCaul. Two other US officials confirmed the plans, but did not specify other details of the meeting, including who would participate in the talks on behalf of Ukraine and Russia.
