Trump says he would ‘gladly’ welcome Russia back into G7

Russia was expelled from it in 2014 in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea.

US President Donald Trump said he would “gladly” welcome Russia back into the G7, he told  reporters at the White House.

He added that the decision to exclude Russia from the G7 was a mistake.

“This is not a question of liking or disliking Russia. It was the G8 at one point, and I said, ‘What are you doing? You talk about Russia all the time, so why isn’t Russia at the table?’ I’m sure Russia would like to come back. Obama and a few other people made a mistake by excluding them. It’s quite possible that if the G8 had stayed, there would not have been a crisis in Ukraine. And if I were president, Russia would never have invaded Ukraine,” Trump said.

The President noted that the G8 became the G7 because of these decisions.

“I argued with Trudeau and a few others, but Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, a great man, agreed with me completely, as did a few others. But at that point, the G8 no longer existed. I still think that bringing Russia back into that format would be very useful,” the American leader added.

Asked whether Ukraine would have a seat at the negotiating table, Trump said yes, of course.

Trump did not ask US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to retract his comments on Ukraine. Trump said Hegseth’s comments yesterday were quite accurate.

Let us recall that the G7, or “Group of Seven”, or “Big Seven” is an association of countries that includes the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan. Russia joined this informal association in 1997, after which it became known as the G8. The association’s countries began to meet again without Russia’s participation in 2014 after the illegal annexation of Crimea.

    • So, this means that bat virus land is where in all of this? I mean, with the male romance going full swing again between the orange swine and the beady-eyed sewer rat, how will Xi fit in? Will they have a threesome, or is Xi a jealous outsider? Oh, and what about porky? Surely, porky must be included. This would make it a love triangle … no, a love square.
My God, have we sunk fast into the swamp of fascists, communists, and general ghoulish depravity.

      • I was just thinking. How would putler and Trump react if Ukraine contacted Xi and offered him access to Ukrainian minerals? That would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons, and fuck both of them.

          • We know the US are struggling because the Chinese have a grip on rare earth minerals. It would be an even less grip if Ukraine did that, but I hope it never comes to that. The Chinks are as trustworty as Trump and putler.
