In addition to Xi Jinping, Viktor Orban could have been invited to the inauguration.

US President-elect Donald Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington for his inauguration, which will take place on January 20. It is currently unknown whether the Chinese leader has accepted the invitation, CBS News reports, citing anonymous sources.

It is noted that Xi Jinping received the invitation in early November. The Chinese Embassy in the United States declined to comment on this topic.

The publication shared that some people from the incoming Trump administration are inviting leaders of other countries to the inauguration. Sources told reporters that one of them could be Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, but he is still considering whether to attend the ceremony.

“World leaders are lining up to meet with President Trump because they know he will soon return to power and restore peace around the world with American strength,” said Trump’s transition spokeswoman, Caroline Leavitt.

The journalists recalled that ambassadors and other diplomats are usually invited to inaugurations in the United States, but not heads of state. They emphasized that never before in the history of the United States have foreign leaders attended such ceremonies.

In addition, members of Trump’s inner circle have been sharply critical of the Chinese government, including Senator Marco Rubio, whom the Republican has chosen for the position of Secretary of State, and new National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, the publication added.

  1. trumpkov is embarrassed about the small size of the crowd at his last inauguration, so he’s inviting a bunch of foreigners to make it look bigger.
