Argentina does not currently have a credible military path to retaking the Falkland Islands, despite President Milei’s renewed sovereignty campaign, and a vague comment from Trump that Argentina has seized on as encouragement.

In this video, I compare the actual military balance today against the real 1982 conflict: Exocet missiles, HMS Conqueror sinking the Belgrano, and 649 Argentine casualties and explain why RAF Mount Pleasant, the permanent British base built after that conflict, changes the entire military equation. Argentina’s new F-16 fighters are a real capability upgrade, but they run straight into a defended island Britain never has to retake from scratch again.
