Ukraine has just announced its new Sea Trident sea drone to be ready. The submarine drone which can travel as deep as sixty metres below the surface carries a 1000 kg payload and has been designed primarily to destroy the support pillars on the Kerch Bridge, Russia’s only remaining logistical link to Crimea. Sea Trident is said to contain counter electronic warfare systems and is capable of operating without manual guidance.
The purpose of announcing Sea Trident’s deployment rather than keep it secret until utilised is intended to convince Russia the Crimean peninsula is already lost and it would be best to get out before their forces are cut off and trapped without any means of support.
Kerch Bridge has become a concentration point for Russian air defences. The Bridge has military and political significance. Kerch Bridge is the symbol of Putin’s success after the annexation on Crimea. Losing the bridge will signal the ebbing flow of power away from Putin and into someone else’s hands.
Putin’s desire to protect the bridge has weakened air defences on his oil and energy infrastructure. Ukrainian drones are penetrating Russian defences daily and inflicting severe damage on oil refineries. Russia is an oil rich nation; it produces nine million barrels of crude per day but has been forced to import refined oil products from neighbouring states including Belarus. Unrefined oil is as useless as a tree without a saw, axe or lumbermill. One cannot make anything from it without a refinery. Russia has forty-four refineries. They cannot defend them all with their existing air defences. In Russia they have banned gasolene and aviation fuel exports and are also considering diesel exports. Oil rich Russia must now import refined oil to survive.
The concentration of air defences at Kerch has created a killing zone in which Ukraine can concentrate its anti-radar missiles and attack drones and destroy even more air defence systems, exacerbating Russia’s growing problems.
As air defence weakens, Ukrainian pressure increases. As they exert dominance in the air Ukrainian confidence is growing. This, in conjunction with dominance at sea and a slow but definite advance on the ground proves the momentum of war has shifted significantly. Recently, two Russian anti-submarine aircraft were also destroyed by drones as they sat on their airfield in Russia. Moscow and St Petersburg are open to strikes and the populations of these cities are becoming nervous. Nervous about attack, and nervous about getting drafted into the armed forces.
If Sea Trident is used in conjunction with Neptune and Flamingo air missiles, Kerch Bridge could be removed at any time. The reason it hasn’t, is because it is not yet in Ukraine’s interests to do so. Ukraine would rather leave the door open and allow Russian forces to withdraw, than mount an amphibious landing on Crimea which could prove costly.
In occupied Crimea, a state of emergency has been declared. A Russia special task force has been established to control the population, streetlights have been dimmed at night, power cuts are daily events, and all large outdoor events are cancelled to save fuel.
The message is clear, ‘Russians go home, this is Ukraine!’
Slava Ukraini!
I write to fight!

Wow!
Amazing!
Sounds like we’re into game-changing territory here!
Unfortunately almost all of Robin’s output is now paywalled. Fortunately this one wasn’t.
According to prof Tim Wilson, formations of the SAS; Robin’s old regiment, have been operating inside Ukraine for quite some time.
That could explain why he takes such a strong interest in Ukraine.
The SAS is the father of all special forces and operates outside existing rules of engagement. The govt never comments on what they are or are not up to.
Their specialisms include counter-terror, infiltration, exfiltration, training partisans in sabotage, disruption of enemy forces, assassinations and preparing the ground for large scale operations …
