Tetiana Kucheriava, Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 first female tank crew member, died on August 26 after battling cancer for nine months.

She served in the Ukrainian military for more than a decade and later helped recover the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers and return them to their families. In late January 2025, Kucheriava revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
