The Russians have encountered problems with the evacuation of military property by sea – permission for Russian ships to enter the port of Tartus has still not been granted.

A Russian ship near Syria has leaking fuel tanks. At the same time, Russia continues to transfer weapons and military equipment from Syria to Libya using aircraft, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reports .

According to the GUR, Russian soldiers were ordered to burn all military vehicles that are inoperable and require repair. The Russians have encountered problems with the evacuation of military property by sea – permission for Russian ships to enter the port of Tartus is still missing.

“On January 9, 2025, Russian Rear Admiral Valery Vladimirovich Varfolomeev made another unsuccessful attempt to reach an agreement – he was not allowed to participate in the negotiations,” he said.

The GUR also noted that the dry cargo ship Sparta and two large Russian landing ships, Van Green and Alexander Otrakovsky, are in the outer roadstead of the port of Tartus. The Otrakovsky has problems with the water desalination unit and the second and third fuel tanks have started leaking.

  1. This looks to me like a lucrative target of opportunity.
Looks like Ukraine should load up some drones on a cargo plane, fly it to a port with questionable legal enforcement. load them on a nondescript freighter. Then under cover of dark have a turkey shoot off Syria.
    Easy peasy Russian nutsack squeezy.
