The special aircraft managed to fly to China literally on the eve of Washington’s air operation.
A Russian Tu-214PU command aircraft, unofficially called the “Doomsday plane,” visited Tehran and managed to leave Iran a few hours before the start of US strikes on targets in the country. This became known from data from the AirNav radar flight tracking system .
Thus, the plane with the registration number RA-64531 arrived in Tehran on July 13 at 07:35 Kyiv time. The Russian plane’s stay in the Iranian capital was short – at 19:08 the plane took off from Imam Khomeini International Airport and headed east, landing in Beijing on July 14 at 02:25.
A few hours after the Russian plane took off, the US launched an air operation. According to an official statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes began on July 13 at around 23:45 Kyiv time and lasted for more than five hours – until 05:15 on the morning of July 14.
According to reports, US forces attacked military targets across Iran, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas. The aim of the strikes, it is said, was to reduce Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping.
The reason for the resumption of active hostilities was the latest incidents in the strait: the UAE Ministry of Defense reported that Iranian cruise missiles hit two Emirati tankers in Omani territorial waters, killing one crew member and injuring eight others. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the damage to the oil tankers, explaining this by allegedly ignoring warnings from the Iranian side.
Special aircraft Tu-214PU
According to open sources, RA-64531 belongs to the Tu-214PU class of control aircraft – machines of this type are unofficially called “Doomsday” aircraft due to their purpose of providing government communications during emergencies.
The aircraft was built at the S. P. Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant, it made its first flight on December 28, 2018, and in the summer of 2019 it was transferred to the Special Flight Detachment “Russia”.
The board is equipped with relay complexes, special encryption nodes, and satellite communication antennas, allowing forces to be controlled from anywhere on the planet.
