Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih exposes US bias.

After tentatively agreeing to the US proposed ‘ceasefire’ on energy infrastructure and civilian targets Russia immediately launched attacks on Ukrainian energy supplies, and on 5th April struck the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih with ballistic missiles containing cluster munitions. These struck a restaurant and children’s playground in what Russians describe as a ‘precision attack.’ Russians regard any attack that hits the right country as ‘precision.’

Head of Kryvyi Rih’s defence, Oleksandr Vilkul, said,

‘A residential area was hit. The missile exploded in the air… to injure more people. Children were killed on, or near a playground.’

In a later statement, President Zelenskyy said,

‘Three-year-old Tymofiy, unfortunately, passed away today in the hospital. Seven-year-old Radyislav. Arina, will forever be 7 years old. Nine-year-old Herman. Fifteen-year-old Danylo. Fifteen-year-old Mykyta. Fifteen-year-old Alina. Kostyantyn, who will forever be 16 years old. Nikita – 17 years old. These are the children who were killed by the Russian ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih,’

Another sixty-two people were injured including twelve children. There were further drone strikes while rescuers attempted to recover casualties from the rubble.

President Zelensky demanded and received strong international responses. European nations, the UK and Japan at once condemned the attack. Predictably, Trump’s government issued no such condemnation, refusing even to refer to the attack as ‘Russian.’

President Zelensky showed his disappointment and added,

‘I am unpleasantly surprised by the reaction of the US Embassy: such a strong country, such a strong people—and such a weak response. They even fear to say the word ‘Russian’ when talking about a missile that killed children,’

Zelensky is waiting for the promised delivery of more US Patriot air defence platforms agreed by Joe Biden. If he waits for Trump, he waits in vain.

These attacks on civilians show Russia has no intention of formally agreeing to any ceasefire. Meetings with US representatives are a ploy to slow Ukraine down and achieve some advantage. Advantages happily supported by the Trump government. While Zelensky tries to appease Trump by tentatively agreeing to his proposals, Trump in turn appeases his hero Putin and accepts all lies presented to him.

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio said ‘We will know from their answers very soon whether they are serious about proceeding with real peace or whether it is a delay tactic.’ It would be an understatement to call such a response naïve. It is obvious to the world Putin has nothing to gain from a ceasefire except a respite to restore his forces and attack again.

The US administration is incompetent, Trump with his direct line to Putin, accepts and repeats all Russian excuses and claims while his Secretary of Defence, Pete Hegseth, communicates military secrets on Signal and accidentally invites a journalist to join the conversation. This is worse than bad, it is outrageous, except in a Trump government.

If Trump isn’t a Russian asset he should be, and if not, he is Putin’s useful idiot. Since he came to power two months ago Trump has seriously impeded the chances of a Ukrainian victory. Trump has proposed reducing sanctions on Russia, temporarily halted military aid and intelligence, and given every reason for Russia to confidently continue the war.

Putin’s armies murder children, while Trump’s ambassadors are not allowed to condemn them.

European leaders are not as easily fooled. They are fully aware of the machinations of the Trump/Putin pact. They understand the need for Europe to prepare to stand alone for fear defeat in Ukraine will lead to a greater war in Europe. Ukraine began by defending its sovereignty and freedom, now it defends all of Europe.

The USA and Russia have enormous debt problems, the former from a generation of overspending, the latter from starting an unnecessary war. The USA is in chaos and completely unpredictable, Putin is totally predictable.

Wherever we in Europe go from here, it is important we have complete confidence in our friends and allies. We must know who we can trust and believe. If we are not prepared to fight for freedom as Europeans, we will without doubt lose, and succumb to slavery.

Ukraine and Europe, cannot trust Putin — or Trump!

  1. “While Zelensky tries to appease Trump by tentatively agreeing to his proposals, Trump in turn appeases his hero Putin and accepts all lies presented to him.”

    Horrible but true.

  2. Indeed, both rats – Trump and Putin – cannot be trusted. And Europe? Recently, on Times Radio, Robert Fox, who is currently the defense & security Editor, foreign commentator and reviewer at The Evening Standard, mentioned a Black Jellyfish. This, according to him, is a dreadful, long-term solution to this war, to just pretend it’ll go away. This is how many in the West seem to think like.
