Russia was ordered to pray for God to give victory: a letter was leaked from Moscow (photo)

The document bears the signature of the head of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensky.

In Russia, the priests of the Russian Orthodox Church MP received a newsletter from Moscow about how they should pray for the victory of Russia during the period of Lent.

We are talking about reading the “Prayer for Holy Rus’”. The corresponding letter signed by the manager of the affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensky, came into the possession of Russian media.

In the mentioned prayer, the liturgical work of Patriarch Kirill (the head of the Russian Orthodox Church) includes the following meanings:

“God of our salvation, look in mercy on Thy humble servants, hear and have mercy on us: behold, those who want to fight have taken up arms against Holy Rus’, eager to divide and destroy her one people. Arise, O God, to help Thy people and grant us victory by Thy power.” .

It is noted that this is the first document at the official level promoting intra-church support for the war.

Voskresensky’s order states that priests must read prayer every day – in services and at home. It is also recommended to offer the reading of the “holy words” to monastics and laity.

  1. Nothing “holy” about the rashist’s fuderation.
To paraphrase part of a prayer from we were soldiers.
Guard and guide Ukraine and grant her victory. Concerning our enemies Lord, ignore their heathen prayers and help us blow the rashists straight to hell.

  2. I pray for peace. I love Ukraine and don’t hate Russians. Putin and Zelensky won’t solve anything, since they are ass-stuck in their ‘patriotism’ and desire to defeat each other at all cost. Happy Easter to everybody! 💘

  3. Churches praying for victory came out of fashion after the bloodbath of World War One. But in Russia, clocks are turning backwards. Already one hundred years behind the modern world again!
    👿

  4. This reminds me of an occurrence during the American Civil War. President Lincoln was asked if God was on the North’s/Union’s side. Lincoln replied that he believed it was much more important to ask if the North was on God’s side.

Something for the Russian Orthodox Church to contemplate as well as many of us at least on ocassion.

May God give justic, peace and freedom to Ukraine.
