Russia returned 1,200 more bodies of dead soldiers to Ukraine: SBU showed footage

The repatriation took place according to the agreements in Istanbul.

As a result of repatriation measures, the bodies of 1,200 fallen servicemen were returned to Ukraine . This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

“According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, in particular military personnel. The repatriation took place according to agreements in Istanbul,” the report said.

The Coordination Headquarters noted that law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.

Updated at 18:30. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) showed an exclusive video of the return to Ukraine on June 13 of the bodies of fallen defenders and reported that for the first time the repatriation took place using specialized wagons of Ukrzaliznytsia.

“Thanks to this, the bodies of the fallen defenders of Ukraine will be delivered in an expedited manner to institutions in various regions, where further identification and other measures will take place,” the report says.

It is noted that the fallen defenders were returned as a result of the joint work of the employees of the Joint Center for Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War at the SBU, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the State Emergency Service, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine. They express their gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
