An accident involving a bus carrying Ukrainian citizens occurred in the French department of Sarthe. Four people died and more than forty were injured as a result of the accident .

This was reported by the prefecture of the department, Censor.NET reports with reference to BFMTV .

The incident occurred on Friday at 11:58 a.m. on the A81 motorway near the town of Degray between the Sillet-le-Guillaume and Le Mans-Nord junctions. The bus, which was carrying adults and teenagers from Ukraine, overturned into a ditch.

According to preliminary data, in addition to the four dead, eleven people were seriously injured, and another 34 people suffered minor injuries.

Following the accident, traffic on the motorway was closed in both directions for rescue operations. 87 firefighters from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) and 49 fire engines arrived at the scene . The rescue operations were led by the Prefect of the Sarthe department, Emmanuel Aubry.

No additional information has yet been provided regarding the causes of the accident, the number of vehicles involved, or the number of victims.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to France Vadym Omelchenko and staff of the Ukrainian Embassy urgently went to the scene of the accident. They are in constant contact with French services to provide assistance to the victims and clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
