He believes that Russia has “a bigger economy, an army, and is just throwing bodies into a meat grinder,” gradually advancing on the front

Despite the unprecedented decision to support new supplies of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, US President Donald Trump is still convinced that the advantage in this war is on Moscow’s side, writes Politico , citing sources in the White House.
“The president’s view is that Russia will win — it’s just a question of how long it takes,” said a senior White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
According to him, Trump believes that Russia has “a bigger economy, a bigger army, and is just throwing bodies into a meat grinder,” gradually achieving results on the front.
However, growing frustration with Putin, who is allegedly ignoring any attempts at a peaceful settlement, prompted Trump to decide to support a new arms package. The United States has now allowed allies to finance the purchase of Patriots for Ukraine, and the American military-industrial complex will receive an order for their production.
“We don’t buy it, but we produce it, and they pay for it,” Trump emphasized during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, referring to the “very rich” European allies.
The president also repeated his long-standing thesis that Ukraine is strategically inferior to Russia:
“They continue to fight with incredible courage, but they are lacking this – they are losing their weapons.”
The decision to transfer weapons was a compromise: Trump is showing firmness in response to Russian brutality, but he is not abandoning his “America First” strategy. His team is actively promoting the narrative that the US will now spend less and Europe will spend more.
But even within the MAGA movement, tensions have arisen. Trump ally Steve Bannon has already criticized the decision as a step toward dragging the United States into “an old-fashioned, exhausting war on the bloody soil of Europe.” Instead, Trump’s team insists that this is not a departure from the course, but a consistent effort to “establish peace through force” — and at someone else’s expense.

I doubt “sources in the White House” know what Trump really thinks any better than anyone else. Someone that works in the White House shouldn’t have to answer anything on the condition of anonymity.
Taco has no inkling about military matters, and the economy is also a mystery to him. Both situations are not the best for mafia land.
