Lions stolen from Mariupol kill zookeeper in occupied Crimea

Two lions that were illegally transferred from occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, to the Taigan safari park in Crimea, have attacked and killed zookeeper Leocadia Perevalova.

The incident occurred when Perevalova was cleaning one of the enclosures. She reportedly violated the established safety procedures.

“An investigation is ongoing, but it can already be said with certainty that it was a fatal mistake,” Perevalova’s coworkers said.

“Leocadia did not close the latch gate, unfortunately. Sadly, her sense of danger, the feeling that something might happen to her, was a bit dulled.”

Oleg Zubkov, the park director, noted that Perevalova was killed by animals taken from the Mariupol Zoo by Russian occupiers.

“She didn’t know them from birth; recently, we have been bringing quite a few animals from the ‘new’ [occupied Ukrainian] territories,” said Zubkov.

“Specifically, we brought seven lions from the Mariupol Zoo. These two lionesses and a lion [that killed Perevalova] were among those we brought.”

Specifically, we stole seven lions from the Mariupol Zoo. These two lionesses and a lion [that killed Perevalova] were among those we stole. That’s fixed it.

Salute the patriotic Ukrainian lions, although eating orc meat must have been unpleasant for them.

  2. Stray dogs and little house cats eat orcs all the time, so why not big cats?
    Well done, Ukrainian lions.
