One of the victims was the chief engineer of Airline Transport Incorporation FZC, Viktor Granov.
A cargo plane was shot down in Sudan (a country in East Africa). Presumably, there were Russians on board.
This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS, citing the Russian embassy. The agency is currently investigating the circumstances of the incident with the plane shot down in Sudan.
The Telegram channel Mash writes that rebels from the previously pro-government paramilitary organization Rapid Reaction Forces have claimed responsibility for shooting down the plane.
“One of the deceased is the chief engineer of Airline Transport Incorporation FZC, Viktor Granov. Preliminary, several other colleagues were with him. The Russian Embassy stated that they are in contact with local authorities and are finding out all the details of the incident,” the statement said.

The Russian embassy in Sudan noted that the situation is complicated by the fact that the crash site is located in the embattled Darfur.
The media also writes that the plane was chartered by the UAE and was based in Bishkek, at the Manas International Airport. It was likely that there was aid on board sent from the UAE to Chad, but the plane was shot down by “friendly fire.”
