I’ve joined the Ukrainian Army. Consciously, honestly, and with absolute faith in our victory.

It happened that my country decided I should serve not in the rear, but in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

I didn’t volunteer immediately—I genuinely believed that I could be more useful to Ukraine by running businesses, creating jobs, paying taxes, driving improvements in healthcare, and supporting the army with funding, ideas, and technologies.

When the state said, “Now your participation is needed here,” there was always a choice. I could have looked for a lawyer, sought options or justifications. But I’ve always believed that you can deceive anyone but yourself. So here I am—not to stay safely behind the lines, but with the clear intention of contributing directly to destroying enemy targets, utilizing my knowledge, skills, and common sense to their fullest extent.

While studying International Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management in the U.S., I always dreamed that my education would help improve business relations between Ukraine and other countries, bringing new technologies and innovative practices to Ukraine. Unfortunately, now all my dreams and efforts have shifted toward being as useful as possible to the army.

I’m not ashamed that I was previously in the rear. There’s nothing shameful in paying taxes, donating, and building the economy. Shame lies in fleeing, forging documents, lying to oneself and others, and making excuses like, “I donated anyway,” or “I don’t donate because it’ll get stolen.”

By the way, I expected to see corruption in the army. Perhaps it exists somewhere. But so far, I’ve seen the opposite: officers and sergeants spending their own money to supply the unit’s needs. These are not just nice words—this is the reality I’m experiencing.

Another critical thing I’ve learned here: do not overshare information, even with good intentions. Where you are, what you’re doing, how exactly you’re contributing—all this can be exploited by the enemy. So, without extra specifics: I serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. If necessary, I’ll mention the unit number, but no more. And I ask everyone to limit details on social media: less information means more safety.

My businesses, Leleka Medical Center and MedExpert, continue to operate at full strength thanks to incredibly strong teams, whom I deeply thank for their support, professionalism, and dedication.
When I have free time outside of my military duties, I plan to dedicate attention to managing MedExpert. However, military orders will always remain my top priority, 24/7, according to Ukrainian Armed Forces regulations.

I believe in our Victory. I know it will surely come, and I am doing everything in my power to bring it closer.

Glory to Ukraine!

Thank you for your service. We all have our purpose in this life, but I do not think that there is anything more honorable than someone who puts his/her life on the line for an entire country of people they have never met before.

Hats off to you. You exhibit the moral clarity, character and bravery that most of us can only aspire to. Stay safe and give the invaders hell.

If your unit needs support, please don’t hesitate to post fundraisers here – many people (Ukrainians and sympathizers) around the world looking to help brave Ukrainians tangibly and directly.
