GUR cyber attack: paralyzed work of the Russian nuclear weapons developer

The consequence of the cyber operation was the threat of disrupting the state defense order of the aggressor state.

Cyber specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense conducted another cyber operation in Russia, as a result of which the work of the Russian company developing nuclear weapons was paralyzed. This was announced by the GUR in its Telegram channel , noting that the operation was carried out jointly with the “VO Team” hacker group.

“As a result of a successful attack on the only provider in the city of Snezhinsk, Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation – the company Vega – its 1173 switches and 10 servers were disabled. The information on the servers of Vega was destroyed. A number of strategic enterprises of the city remained without the Internet and communication services for almost a week “, the message says.

As the intelligence officers added, among these enterprises is “VNIITF” (All-Russian Research Institute of Technical Physics) – a Russian company developing nuclear munitions, which was connected only to the provider “Vega”.

It is noted that a successful cyber-attack made it possible to obtain personal data of employees and an array of other documents of the plant. This information, in particular, makes it possible to establish the mechanisms of circumvention of sanctions and the persons involved in it.

In addition, comments in the local Snezhynsk media indicate that the consequence of the cyber operation was also the threat of disrupting Russia’s state defense order.

Cyber attacks on Russian resources

On July 15, the volunteer hacker community, together with cyber specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, attacked about 100 web resources in the territory of the aggressor state of Russia.

On July 23, a new massive cyber attack by specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense began on the banking system of the aggressor state of Russia. As a result of the attack, the work of payment systems, mobile applications of banks, personal accounts, the payment system for services in public transport, etc., stopped or was significantly complicated.
