
Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised German citizens against travelling to Ukraine in the near future because of the risk of Russian attacks ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
Details: On 15 August, Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated its travel advice for Ukraine. Among the updates, the ministry advised German citizens not to travel to Ukraine.
Quote: “Fighting is continuing in Ukraine. Russian airstrikes using missiles, cruise missiles and drones take place almost daily; all parts of the country may be affected. In connection with Independence Day on 24 August 2026, intensified attacks on infrastructure, such as energy infrastructure and transport hubs, as well as civilian targets, cannot be ruled out.”

Clearly, the good people of Germany have found their principles but the government appears to still be searching for theirs.
