Finland announces 33rd package of military aid to Ukraine worth EUR 128 million – Ministry of Defense

Finland will provide Ukraine with its 33rd military aid package, worth approximately EUR 128 million.

The decision was made by Finnish President Alexander Stubb upon the government’s recommendation.

This is stated in a press release posted on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Finland.

With this new package, the total value of defense aid that Finland has provided to Ukraine since the start of russia’s full-scale aggression has reached EUR 3.4 billion. The new package will include both equipment from the Finnish Defense Forces’ stockpiles and products purchased from Finnish defense companies.

Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen emphasized that Ukraine continues to need the support of its Western allies in the fight against russian aggression.

It is worth noting that Finnish authorities traditionally do not disclose the detailed contents of most aid packages. The country’s Ministry of Defense explains this policy with considerations of operational security and the need to ensure the safe delivery of weapons to Ukraine.

However, the Finnish side has officially confirmed some of the transferred weapons. Among the most notable items were the Leopard 2R mine-clearing vehicles. In 2023, Finland transferred six such vehicles to Ukraine as part of the international “Leopard Coalition” and also provided training for Ukrainian military personnel on their operation and maintenance.

In addition, the aid packages included heavy weapons, artillery ammunition, various types of ammunition sets, and other military equipment.

At various times, Helsinki also reported the transfer of air defense systems, large-caliber ammunition, and winter gear to the Ukrainian military.

Earlier, the Ukrainian News agency reported that the Finnish Air Force conducted exercises to repel drone attacks near the border with russia following the crash of several UAVs on the country’s territory.
