Kyiv said goodbye to F-16 pilot Maksym Ustimenko, who died while repelling a Russian attack on June 29.

This is reported by Suspilne, Censor.NET informs .

Maksym Ustymenko was in the first group of 12 pilots to be trained on the F-16 and has been flying it since the summer of last year.

It was the F-16 piloted by Maxim that shot down seven “shaheeds” during a massive Russian attack on June 29, 2025.

Ustimenko was posthumously awarded the honorary badge “Combatant’s Cross” by order of the Commander-in-Chief, as well as the breastplate of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posthumously.

Death of pilot Maksym Ustymenko

Recall that while repelling a night attack by the Russians on the night of June 29, pilot 1st class Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Ustimenko was killed . He led the damaged F-16 away from the settlement.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Ustimenko the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously).
