Europe must act as if no ceasefire is coming

Negotiating with Putin is performative delay. Negotiating with Trump is strategic risk—he’s compromised and erratic. Europe has to execute its plan without waiting for anyone’s permission.

What that means now (not “after the war”):

  1. Air defense at scale. Flood the grid with Patriot, SAMP/T, IRIS-T, NASAMS and interceptors to shield cities, power, and ports.
  2. Long-range precision. Fund and deliver strike packages that break Russian logistics on occupied territory—within the law of self-defense.
  3. F-16 transition that actually bites. Aircraft, weapons, spares, crews, and wartime maintenance—end-to-end, not symbolic deliveries.
  4. Industrial mobilization. Multi-year EU/UK/NO contracts for shells, rockets, and air-defense missiles. No “just-in-time” in a war economy.
  5. Black Sea security. Maritime surveillance, de-mining, and port hardening with Romania/Bulgaria/Türkiye—protect grain and trade routes.
  6. Cyber/ISR lift. Training, intel sharing, and cyber support on a 24/7 rotation; low political risk, high military effect.
  7. Financial airbag. Tie EU funding directly to defense-industry output so Ukraine can plan and Europe retools faster.

About the “26-nation” commitment:
Treat it as a backbone for a permanent European security presence around Ukraine—modular by domain. Not every country needs to send troops; some lead in air defense, others in maritime, cyber, training, or financing. The point is speed and irreversibility.

Bottom line: Europe doesn’t need Moscow’s consent or Washington’s mood to do the right thing. Act now, at scale, and make renewed aggression mathematically impossible.

This is not theory. It’s execution. Air, land, sea, cyber, and finance—every lane matters. The faster we move, the sooner Ukraine’s survival becomes Europe’s irreversible fact.

Excellent, Rolf Ivar Skår Europe must act as if no ceasefire is coming but mindset must be matched by action. Every delay costs lives, as this morning’s strike on Kyiv’s government shows. Stronger sanctions and consequences for those blocking them are essential. Tempus fugit.

Good proposals, but do you realistically see Europe following through? I don’t see a single leader capable of showing the way. Or am I wrong?

Agreed Europe must act in a unified, cohesive, logistical manner and execute!

Leaving Ukraine undersupplied in the fight that’s also for our freedom IS INVITING PUTIN EVERYWHERE.

Running with one’s tail between our hind legs WAS INVITING PUTIN EVERYWHERE.

Standing up to Putin is the only right thing to do, & it’s been so for more than 3 years. It would’ve been much better & safer to have done that 3 years ago, as late Dr. Henry Kissinger advised us, but it can be done even now. The sooner the safer & the better!

Soon it might be too late to prevent the universal carnage of WW3 !

What some are suggesting is letting Ukraine fall, and then invoking NATO Article 5 after Putin attacks Estonia or Lithuania, etc., which would be certain to happen later. I’m sure those Countries would fight like Ukraine does, but there’s no chance in the world they could ever be as effective because of numbers!

Ukraine has the numbers problem too but that’s between 1 : 3 & 1 : 4 – not 1 : 107 or so. Ukraine’s numbers problem can be solved easily by ending lRRATl0NAL & C0WARDL¥ weapon use restrictions, supplying already paid for weapons as promised & providing the Budapest Memorandum help in the air & on the ground as also needed (also promised & never provided). President Zelensky has been asking for a no-fly zone forever.
