The lower house of the Dutch parliament has approved a resolution on the possible deployment of peacekeepers to Ukraine. The government is asked to take a constructive position on the deployment of a “post-war peacekeeping force ” on Ukrainian territory.

NOS reports this . The approved resolution states that the Dutch parliament sees an active role for the country in ensuring stability if a ceasefire is established between Ukraine and Russia. Given the statement by the US Secretary of Defense that the US and NATO do not see their role in such a mission, the document states that the Netherlands’ participation does not necessarily have to be under the auspices of the Alliance.

The majority of representatives of the lower house of the Dutch parliament supported the corresponding resolution. At the same time, the largest party in the lower house voted against it.

The GroenLinks-PvdA party also supported the resolution. However, a representative of the political force said that it was too early to discuss sending troops to Ukraine.
