Dutch investment firm NUNC Capital announced the launch of a new venture fund that plans to invest 20 million euros in Ukrainian defense tech.
This is stated in the company’s statement, Mezha reports .
NUNC Capital is a company that has been investing in defense tech since 2013. Its headquarters are located in Amsterdam. The company is part of the Ukrainian defense platform Brave1 and is also a partner of the European Defense Tech network, which organizes industry hackathons in Europe. It also cooperates with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The project, called Forward Operating Base, will operate in Ukraine and will focus on strategic areas of defense tech .
In particular, it concerns support for startups with significant potential for the following innovations:
- electronic warfare;
- unmanned systems;
- communication and navigation in the absence of GPS;
- sensors and payload;
- smart materials.
NUNC Capital noted that by launching a venture builder (a combination of a venture fund and a startup studio: a business model that allows you to create businesses from scratch and support them at all stages of development, attracting internal financial and intellectual resources) with a focus on Ukrainian startups, the firm plans to “create a strategic bridge between European markets and the ecosystem of Ukrainian defense innovations.”
” We want to address critical gaps in European defense technology by leveraging rapid Ukrainian battlefield innovations . This coincides with recent challenges in Europe that are driving the mobilization of private financing and better use of existing financial instruments,” said Bram Oostvogel, CEO of NUNC Capital.
It was previously reported that Ukraine has begun developing a new project “Diya.City Invest” , which should stimulate the creation of small venture funds for the development of high-tech startups.
