  1. The BTR-80 still is ok as an APC, transporting troops behind the trenches. However, it’s not an IFV, too thinly armored for that, and thus shouldn’t be used in combat at the frontline, especially not in offensive action. What happens if it’s that’s ignored or deliberately disregarded can be seen on the Russian side, where dozens of such APCs are lost every single day. That way, BTR-80s become canned meat! 😐

    • Yes, it is best suited for transport and EVAC. It doesn’t fair as well going toe to toe or attempting assaults. Still does have decent fire support to cover friendlies or surpress the enemy.

      • Yeah, good for cutting down infantry assaults, when the attackers typically don’t schlepp anti-tank manpads around. The BTR-80’s armament of a heavy and a light MG is well suited for that role. Those APCs just have to stay out of reach of cannon fire or missiles. 🤔
