According to Jean-Noël Barrault, for the West “it would be a crime to succumb to the spirit of capitulation.”

The struggle of Ukrainians against Russia is also the struggle of the European Union. By resisting the invader, they are fighting for the security of Europe and France, because Vladimir Putin’s imperial fantasy is clearly not limited to Ukraine. French Minister of European Affairs Jean-Noël Barrault said this in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche .

According to him, by inviting twenty-seven heads of state and government to Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron “demonstrated the unity and determination of these countries to do more, better and differently to meet the needs of the Ukrainian resistance.”

“It would be a serious mistake to exclude discussion of our options. The West would be guilty of succumbing to the spirit of capitulation. Our steadfastness against Vladimir Putin is the key to our security,” the politician emphasized.

He also noted that European defense should come out from under the NATO umbrella, since European defense “has acquired a completely new dimension since the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukraine.”

“In particular, thanks to the European Peace Fund, which made it possible to finance the training of the Ukrainian military, the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine and allows for joint procurement and production operations,” Barro emphasized.
