American taxpayers no longer bear the burden of the war in Ukraine, – US Ambassador to NATO Whitaker

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker  believes that selling American weapons to NATO partners for transfer to Ukraine allows US taxpayers to “not bear the burden of the war in Ukraine.”

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to Newsmax.

According to him, last month he was in the Oval Office when US leader Donald Trump announced a mechanism under which NATO member countries would purchase weapons from the US and provide them to Ukraine.

“Obviously, this takes American taxpayers out of the equation. American taxpayers are no longer bearing the burden of the war in Ukraine,” Whitaker emphasized.

According to the diplomat, Trump expressed his willingness to sell weapons and ammunition to allies in Europe for Ukraine. He emphasized that time is of the essence.

When asked whether NATO is easing up on arms supplies to Ukraine, Whitaker said: “No, they are not.”

“In fact, our military and the Pentagon guarantee that we will never be at a strategic disadvantage. And you are right – NATO does not have a weapons depot. It is an alliance of 32 countries, each of which has equipment and weapons,” he explained.
