A Russian court sentenced 34-year-old Ivan Stolbov to 13 years in a maximum-security prison, finding him guilty of high treason for donating to Ukraine.

The verdict was handed down by a judge of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court. According to the Russian investigation, the basis for the criminal case was 11 money transfers of approximately 100 hryvnias each to the account of one of the Ukrainian organizations.
The text of the verdict states that Stolbov was born in Sarapul, has Russian citizenship, but before his arrest he lived in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, and was not registered in Russia . He flew to Yekaterinburg to visit his family for the first time in a long time. It was upon his arrival at Koltsovo Airport that he was detained.
According to Mediazona, before his arrest, the man worked as a procurement manager.
Journalists also noted that after his detention, Stolbov was subjected to three consecutive administrative arrests. In early July 2025, he was arrested under the article “Minor hooliganism”, and on July 16 and 30 – on charges of petty hooliganism and disobedience to an FSB officer.
In both of the latter cases, as noted in the court decisions, the man was detained immediately after leaving the special reception center. According to the official version, he was allegedly swearing near the building opposite the institution. At the same time, Stolbov’s mother and sister claimed that they had arrived to meet him at eight in the morning, but they never saw him. According to them, shortly before that, people in masks entered the special reception center, after which a car left.
Stolbov’s lawyer stated in court that her client was taken out of the special reception center, but refused to comment further, citing attorney-client privilege.
