The Ukrainian president is convinced that there is hope in the West to maintain relations with the Russian Federation.
Today, there is no unanimous opinion among all partners regarding permission to launch long-range weapons strikes on Russian territory . This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Ukrainian media, which was broadcast on the telethon.
According to him, this is a “risky question” because we are talking about “a package of very powerful missiles”, so each of the countries – the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy – does not want to take risks. The head of state emphasized that among these 5 countries there are those that are on Ukraine’s side in this matter.
“And it is very important that they will help me very much in the dialogue with partners, so that the answer is still positive,” Zelensky emphasized.
According to the president, partner countries do not yet want to “close the doors completely” in relations with the Russian Federation. “This is my impression,” he emphasized.
According to the president, the issue of the possibility of using long-range weapons has not been resolved with Germany.
“This is the most painful issue for them, as it was before,” Zelensky emphasized.
At the same time, he said that Germany’s position on Ukraine’s accession to NATO is very important to him, because today “the Germans remain skeptical.” “We are closer to NATO and the United States than we once were. Much closer,” said the Ukrainian president.
The Problem of Deep Blows to Russia
As UNIAN reported, Ukraine is demanding that its Western partners provide the ability to strike Russia with long-range weapons.
Zelensky has systematically called on his allies to lift the ban on attacks on the occupiers’ military targets behind enemy lines. Recently, the EU’s top representative, Josep Borrell, called for lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of the weapons it provided to hit targets in Russia. He noted that the weapons should be used in full and the restrictions lifted so that Ukrainians could target the places from which Russia bombs them.
