Zelensky called the removal of the topic of Ukraine’s accession to NATO from negotiations “a gift for Russia”

According to the president, the United States currently does not support Ukraine in NATO.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that removing the topic of Ukraine’s NATO membership prospects from the negotiation process is a great gift for Russia. The head of state said this at a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo.

The President of Ukraine considers the US position to be incorrect, which consists of removing the topic of Ukraine’s movement towards NATO membership from the negotiations.

“The United States of America, as the main ally in NATO, does not support Ukraine in NATO. This is the case today. I believe that this cannot be given to the Russians just like that. I believe that it is a great gift that this topic is being removed from the negotiations. I simply believe that this is wrong,” Zelensky emphasized.

The head of state expresses regret that Ukraine is not being accepted into the Alliance, because Ukraine really wants to gain membership:

“We believe that this would solve a lot of problems and a lot of questions.”

In particular, according to him, when today there is a search for options to strengthen the Ukrainian army, Ukrainian air defense, increase the number of troops, places for conducting exercises and training, or what the foreign contingent should be for deployment in Ukraine, then instead of this Ukraine could be invited to NATO.

Zelensky believes that it would be easier with NATO.
