Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has blamed the “obvious short-sightedness” of some partners for the limited range of its strikes against invading Russian forces.
His biting statement was included in a recent evening video address to express gratitude to allies that have sent military aid packages to the war-ravaged nation.
Zelensky has long requested long-range missiles from Western countries, but some allies have refused over fears that the weapons could be used to strike deep into Russian territory.
Recently, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his opposition to sending long-awaited long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv, saying the weapon “could not be used without the deployment of German soldiers.”
It also took time for the US to finally approve the transfer of the long-range Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to Ukraine.
Expressing Gratitude
Despite lashing out at “some” allies, Zelensky thanked supportive partners, such as the US and Denmark, for sending additional defense aid.
He also expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic and the countries that joined its initiative to buy hundreds of thousands of artillery shells for Kyiv.
Zelensky said bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities is crucial in determining whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will succeed in “expanding the zone of ruins in Europe.”
“It is very important that stability is restored in providing support for our defense,” he said. “Stopping him (Putin) now is in everyone’s best interest.”

That’s one way of describing fear and cowardice. Since Day 1, the West have made sure that Ukraine don’t win this war. This is not by accident, but by design. Some misguided fools still believe mafia land can be reasoned with, no matter how many times Medvedev, or one of the other clowns calls for the destruction and genocide of all Ukraine, and Ukrainians.
That’s not even the worst part (for Europe). The mafiosi have also been threatening the rest of the continent. Can you make something any clearer, that those ghouls can’t be reasoned with?
This fight was unfair from the beginning, because Ukrainian troops are hopelessly outnumbered and they can’t rely on any air force or naval support – except for drones. Of course Ukraine cannot ‘win’ without a Nato intervention, but how negotiate with a monster while being close to being defeated?! The GOP has no plan, they may just have killed both Ukraine and America’s reputation. Of course canning Zaluzhny and putting Poroshenko under house arrest were unlucky moves by the unexperienced piano player, but not excuse enough to throw Ukraine under the steam-roller. And even if the sleeping pill in D.C. gets another term, without controlling the Congress and Senate that wouldn’t change much anyway. I need a drink. 🤐🍻😡
Porochenko is not under house arrest currently.
He is giving a lot of stuff to the armed forces.

Sure, long range weapons are important for cutting down RuSSia’s military industrial complex, and Nato countries should deliver those to Ukraine. However, when emphasizing the need for “bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities”, did Zelensky also talk about this:
“Three Exhausted Ukrainian Brigades Guarded Robotyne. Just One Fresh Brigade—The 141st—Came To Help.”
“those units must remain on the front line until the politicians in Kyiv finally pass a new law that could mobilize hundreds of thousands of fresh troops.”

As I see it, Zelenskyy has to do his own homework, too, for being convincingly able to make demands from other countries. And that means he needs to get his own effing party in order and strongarm lawmakers into finally passing the damn mobilization bill. The back and forth in Verkhovna Rada, with thousands of ammendments to be discussed (totally nuts?!?) has gone on for way too long. It’s a question of trustworthyness for the President to prove to western supporters and not the least his own tired troops that Ukraine’s government is willing to make essential, even though unpopular decisions that are urgently necessary for “”bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities”. Get that bill done now, the exhausted defenders can’t continue without reinforcements any longer!

There is a horribly strong possibility of all aid being blocked until the election, when it stops totally if God forbid, Trumpkov wins.
In F1’s post about putler “planning a buffer zone” there is an odd quote :

On contrary, he is crystal clear : the invasion is about the total obliteration of Ukraine. Putler wants the land and its mineral resources, not the people. If he got his way, every Ukrainian not wishing to join the roosky mir would be murdered.
There was a window early last year for the Ukrainians to regain lots of territory, but the allies provided at a conservative estimate; only 20% of what Zaluzhnyi requested.
That chance has gone now. 2024 already seems to be almost exclusively prioritized for holding existing land and fortifying it to prevent further putinaZi gains.
Assuming a Biden victory and Dem control of both houses, it may be possible for Ukraine to launch the type of counteroffensive in 2025 that they wanted to do in 2023.
Thanks to Trumpkov and his gutter trash followers in the House and Senate, Ukraine has been dealt a terrible blow over these last four months that has cost thousands of lives.
