Zaluzhnyi comments on breakthrough of AFU in Kursk Oblast: tactical success does not guarantee operational

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK and the next president of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi expressed his assessment of the Kursk operation for the first time.

He published his opinion in an article for Dzerkalo Tyzhnia.

“Such actions [the breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation in August 2024], if they are justified primarily by human losses, with limited goals, can be carried out. However, practice has shown that in the end an isolated tactical breakthrough on a narrow section of the front does not bring the necessary success to the attacking side,” Zaluzhnyi wrote.

He added that he did not know the exact price of such actions, but, in his opinion, it is “obviously too high”.

“The defending troops managed to take advantage of both technological and tactical advantages and, over time, not only did not allow the tactical breakthrough to develop into an operational success, but later they themselves made a tactical advance – also without operational success. The price of such actions is unknown to me, but it is obvious that it was too high,” the former Commander-in-Chief noted.

We will remind, in addition, the former Commander-in-Chief believes that drones, electronic warfare systems and artificial intelligence have become key elements of the modern battlefield. It is thanks to these technologies that Ukraine was able to adapt to new conditions of war, increase the survivability of personnel and create a transparent battlefield, where every movement of the enemy becomes a potential target.

  1. He is diplomatic enough not to mention the US turning off any intelligence sharing during this operation, which give the orcs a huge advantage.

    • I really don’t care what the US did or didn’t do, BUT for a former military chief in charge of the troops and currently an ambassador to the U.K. to comment on an ongoing war is completely wrong. He’s turned into a fuckin politician who only cares about his own power. By the way I don’t give a damn if this info is public knowledge he has no business whatsoever to offer his fuckin opinion publicly…this is a damn disgrace.

      • Nope. Zelensky claiming ruSSia will not attack Ukraine, leaving Kherson and Zaporizhia undefended is a fucking shame!

        • I beg to differ. We were at war since 2014 and what did all the previous pass wipes do…absolutely fuckin NOTHING. Zelensky got 8th a position where ther3 wasn’t on3 local manufacturer of ammunition. He had all of one year to figure it out. Mike I call you out for diverting the issue. That guy should not be opening his mouth. PERIOD

          • I’m not diverting anything. Zelensky is corrupt and the biggest problem Ukraine has, right after fucking Trump and Putler. I will raise my voice and continue to do so. I’m not dependent on upvotes or flattery, i just report and comment.

            • Yeah right. I’ve seen his corruption. My God it’s massive. Mike let’s get V out of the twilight zone and get back to reality.
