Ukraine can obtain a significant number of obsolete American missiles that the US is preparing for disposal, and this should be used immediately.
This was written by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zaluzhny, in an article for Ukrainy Pravda, Censor.NET reports .
Zaluzhny stressed that European countries were unprepared for rapid changes in the defense sector, unlike the United States, which has unlimited capabilities. In particular, he gave the example of Hellfire missiles: as of 2023, more than 170 thousand of such ammunition have been manufactured , some of which were manufactured in 1998-2018 and need to be decommissioned.
As the US gradually transitions to new JAGM missiles, the old Hellfires can either be disposed of or transferred to allies. Ukraine could receive them at no additional cost to the US budget.
“This weaponry does not require additional budget expenditures for disposal, but is vital for Ukraine,” the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.

There are many more useful items that should be transferred to Ukraine at less cost than decommissioning/disposal.
I believe I read once that disposing of these weapons is even MORE expensive than making them. So, giving these to Ukraine is also a win for the US et al
