Why I Chose Independence: My Journey in Ukraine

Two years ago this month, I launched this channel and decided to go fully independent after seven years in journalism.

I was working for Byline in London since 2020, investigating Russian disinformation, corruption and its influence on British politics. At the same time, I’d been travelling to Ukraine since the early days of the full-scale invasion

The more time I spent here, the more I realised this was where I needed to be.

Ukraine had become one of the most important places in the world to pick up a camera and document what was actually happening. So I moved here, went independent, and started making my reports.

I made this trailer to explain a little more about why I’m here, why I started the channel, and what I want to do with it.

Looking back at everything we’ve made over the last two years feels amazing. But more than anything, it feels like we’re only just getting started.
