Why are you writing this? Do you think anyone cares for what happens in Ukraine? A relative from California askedβ¦
People may not care for 2 reasons:
1) They are psychopaths completely devoid of empathy. They just canβt feel the pain of other people due to the peculiarity of their brain build. They do not have functioning mirror neurons which make you feel in the place of the person you are looking at.
2) They just do not know or are not focused on this. Do you worry about someone desperate to feed his family in India? Yes, you do. After I mentioned them. This is how it works, focus.
The first category is just 2-3% of the population maximum. Others do worry about the other people. The question is how wide this circle of caring is (family, community, nation, mankind), and if they know it. There was a case when a child in Italy fell into the cave and Lebanese TV was showing the rescue work, and people in Lebanon worried about him more than about bombs exploding and killing someone a mile away. Because at that point of time, the little boy was closer to them than someone mile away.
Empathy is an evolutionary trait shared by all social mammals, not only humans. For instance, if you place a rat in a cage and it cries out for help, another rat observing this, and knowing how to release the captive, is more likely to assist in setting it free than to ignore the cries and focus solely on eating the food you leave nearby.
Most of us have mirror neurons in our brains that make us feel at the place of the person we are observing. Only a small percentage of individuals do not have these neurons working properly, they may understand social interaction through intellect only, not through empathy.
So, if someone does not care about what is happening in Ukraine, itβs mostly because they do not know. They do not see a man standing over the coffin of his wife and 3 children killed by a Russian rocket at night (there was 2 such cases in recent months), they do not see the video of how Russian soldiers torture Ukrainian POW, how residential buildings collapse like a house of cards with people inside. But they hear their political leader telling them that they canβt afford something because something is given to Ukraine. And after listening to such “leaders” while not knowing the reality, they even start blaming us. Imagine how it feels, to see a photo of another murdered kid, not sleeping because of explosions for half of the night, and then see the son of US President Elect, the richest person in the world, and a popular TV show star mocking us with pictures of Zelenskyβ¦
So I think that I should let people know as much as I can. And I am not going to talk to psychopaths, as they canβt be changed.
Russia spends many billions to make people think as they want. And Ukraine does not have that big budget for informational warfare, so I am doing what can be done with it.

Comment from :
Massimiliano Bey:
Empathy is overrated (maybe there is a bit of hypocrisy that leads to this). According to my studies as a human ethologist, it doesn’t even exist. There is sharing in similar circumstances. The social animal believes that a fellow animal or an animal of another species can feel the same things as him.
I would rather say that there is a lot of indifference, a lot of sharing with the executioners (instead of having it with the victims), a lot of anger for one’s own problems (this anger echoes more often with the executioners than with the victims), a lot of fear (habit of appeasement towards the persecutors of everyday life), etcβ¦
Psychopathy exists only when what I have listed is not controlled by that rationality that allows one to understand that the suffering of others could sooner or later also be theirs. But be careful: then hypocrisy or fake help can take over.
Many end up in this because in the end your salvation is not that interesting to them or they simply don’t believe in it.
Reply from Volodymyr Kukharenko:
Massimiliano Bey : Empathy is simply required for social animals to help each other. And Homo Sapiens is no exception. The problem is that our natural “pack size” is 150 individuals maximum, so we care about those who get into this circle at least for some time. That’s why a story of a single murdered family impresses more than stats about hundreds of victims.
Peter Veal:
Well I care! And millions of others like me, with no personal involvement, no objective skin in the game also care.
I would suggest many prominent people, political ‘leaders’ and their self seeking cronies, who proactively or passively support Russia have a vested interest.
It’s way past time for Nations, down to individuals, to get off the couch and decide which side they are on.

This is what you are joking at, Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr. (the son of President-Elect!), Joe Rogan and others. I can show you hundreds of photos and videos. All about death, and suffering of people caused by Russian army. In our own land. I may even show you the videos of tortures filmed by Russians themselves. And you are promoting more of this to happen because Russia won’t stop unless it is stopped by force.
I really hope you are doing it just because you do not understand or because you are misinformed, because you are too busy to investigate, and NOT because you are psychopaths devoid of empathy or cowards afraid of Russian bluff. And I hope the proud and mighty American Eagle the world believes in is not turning into a fat chicken sitting across the ocean and afraid of Russian threats and minding its own business while everything is going to burn. Because if it happens, the world will be very different.
So, you are all welcome to Ukraine to see it with your own eyes. You are welcome to ask questions about Russian crimes. If you care to know the truth of courseβ¦

βRussia wonβt stop unless it is stopped by force.β
Does anyone in a decision-making role βgetβ that yet?
It would seem not.

Any person with compassion, a sense of righteousness, and who believes in democracy and freedom cares about Ukraine. Dark souls with black hearts that believe in fascism and/or communism side with mafia land.
