This was stated by the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, speaking to reporters in Florida. When asked about the withdrawal of American troops from Germany, he emphasized that this is a much larger reduction than the Pentagon had said.
“We are going to significantly reduce the number of troops, and we will withdraw much more than 5,000,” the American leader said.
The Pentagon previously reported that the US would withdraw approximately 5,000 troops from Germany over the next 6-12 months after a “careful review of the department’s force deployment in Europe.” It is worth noting that the US base Ramstein, the headquarters of the US Air Forces in Europe, is located there, as well as a NATO facility.
