The use of “Oreshnik” against civilian targets in Ukraine has nothing to do with hostilities. Such a strike demonstrates the level of atrocities that the aggressor country Russia is ready to commit. The intensification of intensive attacks by the Russian Federation on the civilian population demonstrates the urgent need to provide Ukraine with air defense systems and interceptor missiles.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made this statement at the conference of the Renew Europe party group in the European Parliament in Brussels, on Tuesday, January 13. He promised Ukraine additional military assistance.
“The Oreshnik missiles are weapons of death and mass destruction, and we saw that now when they were recently used against Lviv, and I find it horrific,” Rutte said.
He also recalled the latest Russian strike, when hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles hit Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, killing and wounding civilians.
“This has nothing to do with fighting on the front lines. It simply creates panic and death among the Ukrainian population as a whole, and it is indicative of the atrocities the Russians are willing to commit,” the NATO Secretary General said.
How will NATO respond to increased Russian aggression?
NATO Secretary General called on allies to urgently provide Ukraine with interceptor missiles to protect civilians from increased Russian attacks.
“I ask the parliamentarians present here: work with your governments to thoroughly check their own stockpiles. Reach deep into your stockpiles and find the necessary interceptors for Patriot systems, for NASAMS systems, for SAMP/T systems, because Ukrainians urgently need them,” the NATO Secretary General emphasized.
The Secretary General also emphasized that regardless of when the war ends, support for Ukraine will remain critically important for lasting peace.
“You have to survive this war. We have to make sure that we end this war as soon as possible and reach a full peace agreement or, if necessary, a long-term ceasefire, and stop the fire and the killing. That is why I am so motivated to work with President Zelensky and European, Canadian and American allies to ensure that you have what you need to remain strong in the fight, but also strong at the negotiating table. Your fight is our fight,” Rutte concluded.
As OBOZ.UA reported, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stressed that Russia does not demonstrate any desire for peace . Instead, Moscow “seeks a long-term confrontation” and continues to rely on the support of China, Iran, and North Korea.

Please give me a break…Rutte you’re long on promises and miserably short on deliverables.
