Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Olha Stefanishyna, has firmly rejected claims that Christians are persecuted in Ukraine, calling them russian propaganda echoed by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna.

Stefanishyna stressed that Ukraine is one of the most religiously diverse countries in the region, with 30,000+ registered religious organizations—many of which could not legally exist in russia, where religious minorities are routinely persecuted.

She clarified that concerns around the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) are geopolitical, not religious. Ukrainian law protects freedom of worship while prohibiting institutional ties to organizations serving the aggressor state.

Since the full-scale invasion, 1,378 parishes have voluntarily changed affiliation, a legal process handled through courts in a democratic system.

Stefanishyna also dismissed claims of “political prisoners,” noting that Ukraine has about 34,600 inmates total and no political prisoners, even while defending itself in wartime.

Bottom line:

Narratives about “Christian persecution” in Ukraine are manufactured talking points designed to mislead Western audiences and legitimize russian aggression. Ukraine remains a multi-confessional democracy—unlike russia, where religion is tightly controlled and weaponized by the state.

In Ukraine, as in Ruzzia, the Ruzzian chvrch is an arrn of the FSB. Patriarch KiriI is a state security boss posing as a priest, and Lvna is his tooI.

Plus there’s the persecution of Protestants in the Russian-occupied regions.

How did we get here?

Republican Congressman Randy Fine has introduced a bill calling for the annexation of Greenland.

I cannot believe that elected U.S. representatives are now talking like Hitler and Putin.

But then — why should I be surprised, if even a Ukrainian friend of mine, who claims to be an “Evangelical Christian” and once fiercely opposed the annexation of Crimea, is now using the exact same propaganda to justify an American takeover of Greenland?

His argument is simple: “If we don’t invade first, China and russia will. And besides, some Greenlanders want to be part of the U.S.”

That is word for word the logic used by Hitler to invade neighboring countries — and by Putin to invade Ukraine.

At first, I thought the talk of taking over Greenland was just absurd.

Now I know it’s deadly serious.

There is no limit to the GOP’s stupidity and hypocrisy. Who would have thought the party of Reagan would preside over the destruction of NATO. Also, this is an “adulation bill” meant to kiss the ass of the republicans dear leader. Like those bills to put Trump on the $100 bill or the face of Mount Rushmore. It’s disgusting.

We have hundreds of congressmen and thousands of ridiculous bills so this should not engender so much serious commentary. The United States is not forcibly annexing Greenland.

Scott Jacobs : I can’t locate the cost benefit analysis. I suspect no one has done one yet. This reminds me of the scene in the Marx Brothers film: night at the opera. In the closing moments one character (Groucho) says to the other character that’s ok it is in every contract it is a “sanity clause” Chico replies “ah you cannot fool me there is no Santy clause”. Thanks to the transparency of the systems available to me I can read the whole bill but I am guessing there has to be a sanity clause. Everyone knows Santy clause comes from Greenland!!!!!🇬🇱

1) This so-called bill is purely virtue signalling by one representative, Randy Fine, who cultivates a pugilistic & provocative reputation for the sake of free advertising. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/7012?s=1&r=12

2) Would anyone care to guess how many bills co-sponsored by Randy Fine has passed? Zero!

3) This bill was sent to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which is chaired by military veteran and retired EOD b0mb technician and double amputee Brian Mast. I have doubts about that bill getting out of committee. That committee has 658 pending bills. The vast majority will never escape from committee https://www.congress.gov/search?q=%7B%22source%22%3A%22legislation%22%2C%22congress%22%3A119%2C%22chamber%22%3A%22House%22%2C%22house-committee%22%3A%22Foreign+Affairs%22%7D

4) even if it escapes committee (which it won’t) it will not pass the House.

5) This bill got only a single co-sponsor, Michael Rulli who is also a “loose cannon” https://www.cleveland.com/open/2024/02/an-ohio-senator-and-his-wife-said-they-fired-warning-shots-a-teenager-and-his-family-say-they-were-shot-at.html 6) This bill has no Senate or bipartisan cosponsors. 7) This will NEVER pass the US Senate. You can quote me on that.

The lengths to which Trump will go to make us forget that he’s a felon, or to distract us from what might be in the Epstein files are breathtaking. But what’s even more staggering is how many of his sycophantic followers are falling for it and are ready to commit the irreparable on his behalf.

  1. The only thing that’s missing is Trump to come out an say he’s protecting US citizens living there. Then the world has truly unlocked “….this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension – a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into the Twilight Zone!”
