The Republican says the US Congress will not allow the Russian dictator to be rewarded for his unjust invasion of Ukraine.

Republican Representative Brian Fitzpatrick has come to the defense of Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelensky following President Donald Trump’s latest comments, saying any “peace” that rewards Moscow for war is “unacceptable.”

“President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should not enter into any agreement imposed on him by any outside state that does not guarantee the security and sovereignty of the Ukrainian people, who elected him with over 73% of the vote in an election deemed free and fair by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), where I served as a commissioner and congressionally appointed representative. Russia has never held such an election,” the Republican wrote on his page on the social network X.

Zelensky and all participants in the negotiations, he said, should know that there are a significant number of members of the US Congress from both parties who are capable of doing everything possible to prevent the Russian dictator from receiving rewards for his “illegal invasion, rape, kidnapping, torture and murder of the Ukrainian people, including so many women and children.”

“We are using every lever and every vote at our disposal, regardless of the personal or political consequences. This issue is so time-sensitive and so existential. It is a defining legacy. We all want an immediate end to Russia’s brutal invasion and killing. For a peace agreement to be fair and lasting, it must be negotiated in a way that holds Russia’s invaders accountable, protects the dignity of Ukrainian victims, and ensures that the costs are shared fairly and equitably across all European countries,” Fitzpatrick said.

To do otherwise, he said, would be to encourage future wars and “perpetuate future suffering and bloodshed.”

“This is about peace through strength. This is about patriotic common sense. And patriotic common sense is what America must always stand for,” the politician concluded.
