The shock wave damaged buildings in the Holy Dormition Monastery (UOC-Moscow Patriarchate).
A greenhouse housing hundreds of flowers and trees was damaged, reports a Dumskaya correspondent. In addition to the broken windows, the heating system was destroyed.
The monastery’s dairy was almost completely destroyed. Four people were there at the time of the attack. The men were preparing yogurt and kefir and managed to escape to the basement at the last moment, Archdeacon Zinovy said.
“As soon as we ran into the basement, there was one attack, then a second attack, then a third. Even the iron basement doors were chewed up. We lay there, shaking, praying, and already saying goodbye to life. Then the guards came running, put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, and pulled us out,” the archdeacon added.
Windows were also blown out in the church. The monks are cleaning up the aftermath of the shelling themselves, removing the remains of the broken glass and sweeping the area.
As a reminder, the enemy attacked Odessa on the night of January 28. Three people were injured, and a 21-year-old man was hospitalized.
