We must change our strategy

The United States, Europe and Ukraine Win as House Passes Historic $61 Billion Dollar Aide Package

Today is a long awaited victory. Not merely Ukraine, but the world won a victory today. This is only the beginning of the next stage of our work to preserve humanity from an age dominated by Russian terrorism and the Axis of Evil. The fight for Ukraine requires America to shift from policies of timidity, to a heightened role as an honorable nation that keeps our word to Ukraine, settling for nothing less than complete victory. We must communicates clearly our opposition to the scope of Russian criminality, even as Churchill relentlessly reminded the world of Hitler’s wickedness.

One thing which must change is our strategy. We must think beyond parties and individuals to recognize the fluid nature of public positions on Ukraine. The actual motivations of individuals are not nearly as clear as we often conclude.

Here are a few facts we must acknowledge and learn from:

  1. There were 92 Republicans who voted for giving money to Israel who voted against aid to Ukraine. The hypocrisy of voting this way is not obvious to them. These Republicans clearly support American interventionism, but have been targeted for skepticism about Ukraine. We need to focus efforts on them.
  2. in the 11th hour, Speaker Johnson emerged as a largely clear thinking opponent of Russia and defender of Ukraine capable of articulating the threat posed by Russian aggression to the world. He acted correctly in the end, despite tremendous harassment. He risked much. This must be acknowledged with gratitude.
  3. His public courage emerged after visiting Donald Trump, where the former president expressed support for Johnson and essentially endorsed a package for Ukraine based on forgivable loans, similar to Lend Lease in 1941. In the end, Trump’s suggestion was implemented. His tacit support for the measure allowed Johnson to rally Republicans.
  4. The loudest advocates for Putin spent the last three weeks railing like possessed banshees. They dedicated themselves to a foam at the mouth style tactic of making threats, spreading contempt, lies and disinformation on Ukraine. But it diddn’t stick. Their behavior paved the way for the rest of us to mount a massive attack through documentary filmmaking, reportage and more, exposing them for their rampant dishonesty, QAnon links and Kremlin ties. I predict our target audience will be more receptive. My point: They fired their last bullet. Their gun is empty. Our turn.

We need to be thinking in terms of pressure points, influence centers and techniques which bring the best result, regardless of who is elected in November. Under any reality, we have a big job ahead. We must be ready.

  1. “There were 92 Republicans who voted for giving money to Israel who voted against aid to Ukraine. The hypocrisy of voting this way is not obvious to them.”

    Criminals/accessories to murder/murderers by proxy.

      • Depends how much money AIPAC are giving to the Republicans. We all know it’s all about money.

        • So true, F1. That’s how it is in the US, the mighty dollar rules everything. Especially since “Citizens United”. “Best democracy money can buy!”, as they say. ☹

  2. “We must communicates clearly our opposition to the scope of Russian criminality, even as Churchill relentlessly reminded the world of Hitler’s wickedness.”
That would be great, it’s only that I see no realistic chance for that with cowardly Biden nor Putinfan Trump in the White House. If one of them dropped dead, though… 🤔

  3. Another point on US support for Israel versus Ukraine that some of you might consider. Israel has been a reliable US ally and partner with close military and economic ties for 75 years and is the only western style democracy in the Middle East. Israel also is not directly adjacent to a country with thousands of nuclear weapons. Ukraine does not share a similar history with the US.

Also it is interesting that based upon some of the above comments at least some of you appear to be anti-jewish and supportive of Hamas terrorists. But I guess I shouldn’t be suprised, as those positions always find a home with one political party in particular.
