As established by Defence24, Poland has transferred to Ukraine 5 PAC-3 MSE missiles intended for Patriot air defense systems.
On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the decision to transfer PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine for the Patriot system was made at the request of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and, among others, Supreme Allied Commander of U.S. Forces in Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, following consultations with a group of users. He emphasized that the number of missiles transferred is “a margin of our capabilities” and “does not impact Poland’s air defense capabilities.”
Then, Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk announced that Poland had “agreed” with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutt and the USA that in exchange for providing Ukraine with “several” Patriot missiles, Poland would receive “ten times more of this type of missiles and systems within the first 24 hours of the threat.”
That same evening, in an interview with TVN24, Tomczyk announced that Poland had transferred “several” such missiles to Ukraine. He also emphasized that this process took place in full consultation with the United States and the NATO Secretary General .
“We also agreed with the NATO Secretary General and the American side that the transfer of these few missiles would be linked to something else – that if Poland were threatened, we would receive ten times more missiles and systems of this type within the first 24 hours of the threat,” Tomczyk said.
