According to the media, the German auto giant used a joint venture with the Chinese FAW Group as a loophole.

German automobile concern Volkswagen entered the Russian market with its technologies, which are used in formally Chinese cars . This is reported by Zeit Online .

Experts have found out that the German concern’s technologies can be used in cars of the Chinese brand Jetta, which entered the Russian market in July.

The brand is part of the Chinese automobile FAW Group, which acts as an official partner of Volkswagen. The companies even have a joint venture.

Volkswagen, which left Russia a week after the full-scale invasion, has rejected the suspicion that it exported its products to Russia and says such reports are “false.”

However, it is easy to see that the design of the Jetta models, which Russian consumers can now purchase, is practically no different from such Volkswagen cars as the Tiguan or Polo.

How Volkswagen Exited Russia

In May last year, it was reported that Volkswagen Group had finally left Russia, selling its assets to a local investor. According to Reuters, the deal was worth 125 million euros.

And even earlier it became known that the Russians had arrested all of Volkswagen’s assets. Allegedly, this was done to prevent the concern from leaving the Russian market.
