Volker called the Minsk agreements “deeply wrong” and pointed out the West’s mistake about Ukraine

Real peace in the Donbas is possible only under one condition, the former Special Representative of the US State Department for the Ukrainian State believes.

The Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in Donbas are deeply flawed, and the West has acted incorrectly in pushing Ukraine to continue unilateral concessions.

The agreements are “deeply flawed” because they are ambiguous and the Russian Federation does not recognize that it is a party to the conflict, said Kurt Walker Ahios , a former special representative of the US State Department for Ukraine .

True peace can only be achieved, he said, if “Russia changes its mind and decides that it wants to end the war.”

“I think that Ukraine has already done everything it could. We must push Russia to implement the Minsk agreements …”, the source said.READ ALSOVolker named two conditions for a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine (video)

Recall that in the spring of 2014, militants seized part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and created the so-called “DNR” and “LNR”. Russia supported the militants, and its troops invaded part of the Donbass.

To resolve the conflict, the Minsk agreements were signed, which, in particular, provided for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons and the holding of elections.

Russia does not recognize that it is a party to the conflict, and claims that there are no Russian troops in the Donbass. Ukraine, in turn, insisted that elections in part of Donbass are impossible while the territory is occupied.

At the end of January 2022, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that the Minsk agreements were “signed at gunpoint” and Ukraine does not intend to implement them .

Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin turned to the Ukrainian authorities with a demand to comply with the Minsk agreements and quoted the Russian proverb: “… like it – don’t like it. Be patient, my beauty!”

The head of the Ukrainian state , Volodymyr Zelensky, responded to the words of his Russian colleague .

“…Ukraine is really a beauty, about “mine” – it seems to me that this is already too much, “the president said.

  1. “I think that Ukraine has already done everything it could. We must push Russia to implement the Minsk agreements …”

Nope, just sanction the crap out of them. I’m sure they will suddenly change their mind. It’s time the West got proactive instead reactive. Don’t wait for the dwarf to do something before mumbling about sanctions, calling all sides etc, etc. Hit the bastard now, then wait for the reaction from Muscovy.

    • If the invaders surrounding Ukraine right now, take a step further into Ukraine, Putin’s claim that Russians are not in Ukraine and Russia is not a party to the conflict go bye bye. I think then it will be much easier to hold Putin to Minsk.
I know Minsk is flawed but it is the basis for a lot of sanctions and the jellyfish would love to wiggle out of sanctions.

  2. I think the jelly fish will only wiggle if Germany and France have their way. Thankfully we have other friends who have shown to be true friends.
